Johnson Heating & A/C and Bill's Heating and Air Conditioning is Kewanee and Moline, ILL based and locally owned and operated. We are looking for a team player that is focused, reliable, honest and hardworking & who can follow directions and complete projects in a timely manner to hold the position of the Installer.

Job Title: Experienced HVAC Installer
Department: Installation
Reports to: Installation Manager/Foreman

Work Hours: 7:00am 4:00pm with an hour lunch and over time as designated

Pay Scale: Level 2 Installer: $18 - $24 per hour DOE
Level 3 Installer: $24 - $30 per hour DOE

Position Summary: To install heating and air conditioning systems to company standards providing the customer with a high quality experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Install & set up A/C units, air handlers and furnaces
  • Follow more extensive directions
  • Basic Safety knowledge of tools, testing devices and surroundings
  • Complete installation of branch runs
  • Basic knowledge and ability to run main trunk lines
  • Able to run line set
  • Able to install and terminate exhaust fans
  • Able to run low voltage wiring
  • Able to seal duct work
  • Locate supply and return runs per layout on plans
  • Work well with other sub-contractors and co-workers
  • Cut & drill holes
  • Fill out paperwork in a neat, accurate, complete manner
  • Installation & Insulation of duct work
  • Follow all guidelines for job staging
  • Requires minimal supervision
  • Measure and fabricate simple fittings and duct work


Desired Qualifications: (level 3 Installer)

  • Ability to train entry level personal
  • Pass NATE core test
  • Advanced understanding of layout, design, fabrication and installation
  • Proficient at residential and light commercial installations
  • Advanced Safety knowledge of tools, testing devices and surroundings
  • Fabrication knowledge of sheet metal fittings
  • Size and draw duct work correctly
  • Start up and trouble shoot furnaces, air handlers, heat pumps, condensing units, boilers, and Geothermal units
  • Good understanding of line and low voltage wiring, relays, transformers, wiring diagrams
  • Excellent customer relations skills and an open mind to think outside of the box
  • Need to be able to obtain Iowa mechanical license
